March 29 is National Mom and Pop Business Day! Today is the day we celebrate the independent businesses that are the lifeblood of our economy.
Rick and Margie Segel founded National Mom and Pop Business Owners Day in honor of his parents, and has since grown into a day to celebrate the small businesses throughout our country. Now, recent studies show that small businesses create two-thirds of net new jobs in the U.S.
Michael Aram is grateful to partner with over 1,000 Mom-and-Pop-run small businesses around the world. These partners, with their local independent stores, are the heartbeat of our brand.
2022 National Mom and Pop Business Day
Running a small independent business requires a lot of work, and much dedication. Countless hours of nurturing are needed to grow the business.
Some of these Mom and Pop shops are handed down from one generation to the next while others are new start-ups.
“Mom and Pop” businesses offer superior customer service as the owners take personal pride in their operations as well as pride in their communities.
That’s why today for 2022 National Mom and Pop Business Day we are highlighting a few select partners that are excellent examples of successful, independently operated local businesses.

“I most enjoy finding new items and learning the stories about each piece, the artist who created it and why it was created,” said Shane. Shane continues to travel extensively to art shows around the world in order to bring his customers truly unique pieces including selections by Michael Aram.
Addendum Gallery specializes in hand-crafted art pieces, tabletop & entertaining pieces, small studio papergoods & letterpress cards, imaginative gifts, and artisan jewelry. Most of what you will find in Addendum comes from the United States but there are also many items from France. How to Support Mom and Pop Business Owners?
Owning your own business is a goal that many people strive to attain. It takes long hours, hard work, and much dedication. Countless hours of nurturing the business are needed to grow the business.
Some of these shops are handed down from one generation to the next while others are new start-ups. “Mom and Pop” businesses offer superior customer service as the owners take personal pride in their operations as well as pride in their communities.
Small businesses are a vital part of the United States economy, and the critical role they play is sometimes overlooked. Consumers can show them their much-deserved appreciation by shopping locally and at small businesses.
- Give gift cards from your favorite small businesses to encourage others to shop there.
- Share their social media pages to improve their following.
- Talk about them. Word of mouth advertising is some of the best advertising small businesses get.
- Be a repeat customer. Remember small businesses are the ones who also support local events and schools, too.
Our economy couldn’t run without small mom and pop businesses. They create economic growth and provide almost 70% of all new jobs in the country. It is a special person to appreciate the long hours, hard work and dedication it takes to run a successful store. So on March 29, head to your favorite small business to say thank you!
